Level I Fieldwork introduces the student to the practice of Occupational Therapy in a psychosocial setting, adult rehabilitation (ortho/ neuro), geriatric and pediatric setting.
OTA students will clock 24 to 28 hours through methods stated in ACOTE Standard C.1.9:
Level I FW is intended "to introduce students to the fieldwork experience, and develop a basic comfort level with an understanding of the needs of clients [as well as] engage in experiences designed to enrich didactic coursework through directed observation and participation in selected aspects of the occupational therapy process under direct supervision a currently licensed or otherwise regulated occupational therapists and occupational therapy assistants, psychologists, physician assistants, teachers, social workers, physicians, speech language pathologists, nurses, and physical therapists (ACOTE Standard C.1.8).
Students will be placed in practice settings that support learning in Semester 2 & 3 within the OTA curriculum.
ACOTE Standard C.1.9: Level I fieldwork may be met through one or more of the following instructional methods:
