Psychiatric Nursing via theory/lab focuses on the principles and concepts of mental health, psychopathology, and treatment modalities related to the nursing care of clients and their families. Alterations in the functional health pattern of cognition-perception, and the nurses role in promoting mental health and coordinating community services are emphasized. Common alterations in the cognition-perceptual pattern including chemical dependency, violence, abuse, anxiety, psychosis, and organic conditions affecting cognition are studied.
